Scoot unveils new cabin product

21 Aug 2013 by Clement Huang

Scoot, the Singapore based low-cost carrier, is rolling out the ScootinSilence cabin, designed for passengers seeking more privacy and space, but not at premium product prices. They just need to add S$18 (US$14) to the regular economy fare. A ScootBiz seat costs from S$99 (US$77) more than an economy seat.

Taking up rows 21 to 25, ScootinSilence is located behind ScootBiz. It offers a 35-inch seat pitch – four-inches more than the in economy. In addition, only travellers over the age of 12 are allowed into this section, a benefit, the airline believes, creates a relaxing environment. This is not the first time an airline has adopted a ban on youngsters in its elite cabin. Malaysia Airlines initiated the trend last year in the upper deck of its A380 (see here).

Scoot’s network now comprises 11 cities including Singapore, Sydney, Gold Coast, Bangkok, Taipei, Tokyo, Tianjin, Qingdao, Shenyang, Nanjing (see here), and Seoul (see here). The low-cost carrier expects to take delivery of the first of its 20 Boeing Dreamliner aircraft in 2014 (see here).
