19 Aug 2013 by Clement Huang

Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group has announced that it has signed an agreement to manage a new luxury property in Shenzhen.

The hotel, which will be branded as Mandarin Oriental, Shenzhen, is slated for a 2017 opening. The development will be located at Shum Yip’s UpperHills, which is near the city's new central business district of Futian.

Shenzhen is known for its thriving industrial output, with its economy being the fourth largest among all other China cities. It embodies the ambition of modern China and what the country is capable of (see stories here and here).

Perched on top of a 400 metres tower, Mandarin Oriental, Shenzhen will feature 190 guestrooms, including 17 suites that offer views of the city skyline and the surrounding city parks.

The hotel’s interior design will be influenced by the group's signature oriental heritage, and blend elegance with a contemporary style. There will also be an exclusive executive club lounge.

In terms of facilities, the new hotel, when opened, will offer a selection of dining options including a rooftop speciality restaurant and bar, a Chinese restaurant, an all-day dining venue, as well as the signature Mandarin Oriental Cake Shop.

There will also be several meeting spaces, an indoor swimming pool, along with six spa suites offering a range of wellness, beauty and massage treatments.
