World Hotels adds 31 new properties

22 Jul 2013 by Clement Huang

World Hotels has announced that it has added 31 new properties and nearly 6,000 rooms to its portfolio so far this year.

The group has yet to reveal the new additions, but said they are based in key locations and include some of the world's finest luxury hotels and resorts.

A total of 186 hotels applied to join the group within the first six months of 2013, and 31 were accepted. New additions include 17 hotels in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, three in North and South America and 11 in the Asia-Pacific region.

World Hotels currently manages a portfolio of nearly 500 hotels in 250 destinations worldwide.

According to Roland Jegge, executive vice president Asia-Pacific at World Hotels, the group is particularly proud to strategically expand its soft franchise solution with the addition of six branded hotels. Many of the new branded World Hotels are located in China, which the group has been targeting the past few years (see here).

"We have been strongly expanding in emerging markets – particularly in China – and are glad to see our efforts are paying off", Jegge said. "Having branded World Hotels in key destinations such as Shanghai, Suzhou and Wuxi further strengthens our brand in this highly competitive market."

Properties already under the group include Furama Hotels Dalian; Grand Central Hotel Shanghai; Harbour Grand Kowloon in Hong Kong; The Sultan Hotel in Indonesia; Hotel Fort Canning and Goodwood Park Hotel in Singapore; One World Hotel in Malaysia; Lotte Hotel Seoul and IHGA Royal Hotel Tokyo.
