SIA announces new miles payment option for Kris Flyer

19 Jul 2013 by Clement Huang

Singapore Airlines has launched a new miles payment option for airfares booked through www.singaporeair.com, as part of a significant enhancement to the Kris Flyer loyalty programme.

Members of the programme are now able to combine as few as 5,000 Kris Flyer miles with cash to pay for Singapore Airlines and Silk Air flights booked through the SIA website. Previously members had to accumulate 50 per cent of the required miles in order to be able to “top up” the outstanding value with cash. Marco Polo Club, by comparison, requires members to have 70 per cent of the miles required for a route in order to combine the fare with cash.

Starting next year, the new option will also cover payment for fuel surcharges and taxes. It will also see Kris Flyer able to use their miles on any available seat and flight on Singapore Airlines or Silk Air, whereas previously these were restricted.

Along with the payment news, Kris Flyer is also introducing "Saver Awards" on all classes for its B777-300ER and A380 flights.

SIA recently debuted new seats across all classes (see here) as well as a new Silver Kris lounge at Incheon Airport in Seoul (see here).
