China Southern provides free limo service

19 Jul 2013

China Southern is offering a free Mercedes-Benz s350 and Audi A6L service for its first and business class passengers landing, or taking off from, the Chinese cities of Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen and Wuhan.

The service is applicable to passengers departing from Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou to the following cities: London, Paris, Amsterdam and Moscow in Europe; Los Angeles and Vancouver in America; Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth in Australia; and Auckland in New Zealand. These guests are entitled to a one-way Mercedes-Benz service to the airport. Additionally, passengers flying to China from the listed cities can enjoy the same service from the airport to a destination in the city.

Meanwhile, passengers taking off from Shenzhen, Wuhan, Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou to domestic cities and Asian or Middle Eastern cities – including Singapore, Bangkok, Manila, Dubai and Istanbul – are entitled to a one-way Audi service to the airport. Guests flying to China from the international cities can also enjoy the same service from the airport to a place of their choice.

Passengers must fill in an online application form on China Southern's website three days in advance in order to partake in the service, which will be available until August 30.

The airline has also announced that it will install a retail technology platform that accepts China Union Pay bankcards onboard. This system enables passengers to shop from their seats using the card, and will be available on international long-haul routes.

The airline has been using its B787 since the Chinese government approved the aircraft in May (see here), and according to the carrier it is considering deploying the Dreamliner on existing services in place of other aircraft. On the Guangzhou–London route, the A330-200 currently used may be replaced by the B787 starting October 27. The updated service would depart Guangzhou at 0930, arriving London at 1450, returning at 2230 and landing in China at 1830. Additionally, on October 28, the carrier is considering deploying the Dreamliner on the Guangzhou–Auckland route in place of the A330-200, with an unchanged schedule. A spokesperson of the airline said that these plans are still subject to change.
