A fond farewell to Alan Whicker

15 Jul 2013 by GrahamSmith

The death of broadcaster Alan Whicker at the age of 87 on Friday has left many mourning an undisputed great in the field of travel journalism.

Best known for his television series Whicker's World, the veteran presenter and reporter occasionally wrote for Business Traveller and attended many of our annual awards ceremonies.

Alan, who died at home in Jersey, will be remembered with much fondness.

Below is a selection of photos, taken from our archives, of the star at various Business Traveller Awards ceremonies and an image of an article he wrote for Business Traveller in February 1990.
