A number of airlines have announced flight cancellations to Taiwan as Typhoon Soulik (initial report here) continues to bring violent weather to the region.
Cathay Pacific has warned that the majority of flights between Hong Kong and Taipei scheduled from 2100 today to 1400 tomorrow will be cancelled. The airline also anticipates delays to a number of flights on Sunday. China Airlines meanwhile, has cancelled eight flights today, on top of the ten flights cancelled yesterday.
Both Dragonair and Hong Kong Airlines have also announced that all flights today and tomorrow have been cancelled. Furthermore, Dragonair has encouraged passengers to either advance or postpone non-essential travel to, from, and via Taipei. The airline has waived re-booking and re-routing charges for all tickets on or before July 11 for travel to and from Taipei between July 12 and 13.
Finally, both Delta Airlines and KLM have announced flexible policies to passengers due to travel to Taipei from July 11 to 13, allowing them to change their reservations easily.
Taoyuan International Airport will continue to maintain operations based on the weather forecasts updated by the Aeronautical Meteorological Service of the Civil Aviation Authority.
