Wyndham to open eight new China properties in two years

12 Jul 2013 by Clement Huang

Wyndham Hotel Group has announced that it will continue to expand in China with the development of eight new Ramada properties in emerging cities over the next two years.

The new hotels will be developed in Linyi, Liuzhou, Changzhou, Changsha, Suzhou, Wuyishan and Xishuangbanna. For an in-depth report on Suzhou, click here, and for information about five other up-and-coming cities in China, click here.

Such cities are seeing increased business traveller traffic and air connections as international companies are keen to establish a presence in their rapidly developing industries.

"The lack of quality rooms in many second-tier and third-tier cities provides us with opportunities to further expand our presence. We are proud to announce these new additions which will help grow our footprint in the region," said Duana Elledge, executive vice president & managing director of Wyndham in Asia-Pacific.

The new properties will raise the number of Ramada properties in China to 57, making Ramada the second most prolific Wyndham brand in the country, after Super 8.

Within China, the group currently operates 573 hotels and 69,975 rooms. It is the largest US-based hotel company in the nation.

This development is the latest in Wyndham's extensive expansion plans globally, which has already seen the group open new hotels in Singapore (click here) and Istanbul (click here) so far this year.
