Lufthansa temporarily replaces A380 with B747-400 on Beijing, Tokyo Narita routes

14 May 2013 by ReggieHo

Lufthansa will be temporarily replacing the A380 with the B747-400 on the Frankfurt-to-Beijing and Frankfurt-to-Tokyo Narita routes during the coming winter flight schedule period to allow for the retrofitting of the A380 fleet with the new business class cabin.

The new business class seat features ergonomically improved cushioning and can be converted into a 1.98-metre-long flatbed. Each pair of these seats is arranged in a V-shape configuration with the aim to provide more space at shoulder level and more flat surface for placing things in between. There are also many additional storage compartments, especially for the window seats. The inflight entertainment system offers larger monitors (15-inch screens as opposed to the previous 10.4-inch).

These new seats are featured in the airline's B747-8s, which serve Washington DC, Los Angeles and Miami in the US; Delhi and Bangalore in Indian; and, most recently, Hong Kong. For a review of the seat, please click here.
