New World Hotels upgrades Manila and Shanghai properties

1 Mar 2013

Hong Kong-based New World Hotels has announced extensive refurbishment programmes for its properties in Manila and Shanghai.

The renovation project at the New World Makati City, Manila Hotel is ongoing. Designed by the Singapore-based firm White Jacket, the lobby and lounge have been given a face lift with marble floors, sleek dark wood furnishings and new art pieces, while the executive club floor guestrooms – which occupy the top four floors of the property – are still under renovation with details to be unveiled soon.

Similarly, refurbishment work at the New World Shanghai Hotel is in progress; although the lobby is complete and the hotel has introduced a new café, the club facilities are still being upgraded and are scheduled to be complete by the end of March.

The lobby now features floor-to-ceiling windows and Chinese lattice-work screens. The property has also launched a new dining outlet - Nong Café – offering a self-service market-style ambience with open kitchens and a variety of food counters.

These developments are part of the hotel group’s continuous efforts to upgrade its facilities and services since its rebranding efforts in 2010 (see story here). Part of the initiative involves staying ahead of the curve in terms of technology with the recent introduction of paperless check-in systems at the Manila property and the New World Dalian Hotel (see story here), with more to follow.

Not too long ago, the Dalian property underwent its own major renovation project (see story here), which equipped the hotel with wifi internet access throughout as well as upgraded the club lounge and meeting facilities.
