Cathay reopens First Class Lounge in HKIA

8 Feb 2013

Cathay Pacific Airways has opened its newly renovated First Class Lounge in The Wing – the final stage of an extensive project to upgrade the airline’s flagship lounge in Hong Kong International Airport. Level 6 reopened in 2011 (see story here) and level 7 last year (see here).

The 1,697 sqm first class lounge, also located on level 7, houses renovated versions of the dining area “Haven” and the five “Cabana” units, which now contain a spacious shower, full-sized tub and a daybed.

As with the other sections of the Wing, the redesign was done by London-based Foster and Partners and allows for abundant natural light and makes use of materials such as bamboo and eucalyptus.

The Haven dining area is two times bigger than before and has an expanded buffet counter and new à la carte menu. Separate from the five Cabana units, there are also 12 shower suites.

Other new additions include the Champagne Bar – with free champagne bubbling all day long – and an outdoor bar with a view of the airport runway.

The lounge is open to first class passengers, Diamond Marco Polo Club members and Emerald oneworld members. Opening hours are from 0530 until the departure of the last flight.
