All of Japan Airlines' (JAL) flights operated by Dreamliner aircraft will be cancelled tomorrow in order "to ensure complete safety", a JAL spokesperson has confirmed.
This has been done as a precaution following the emergency landing of an All Nippon Airlines B787 due to technical issues earlier today (see story here).
This incident was the most recent in a spate of problems affecting the aircraft type, resulting in the grounding of all Japan's Dreamliners (see story here).
Tomorrow's action will affect approximately 650 passengers that were scheduled to travel between Haneda and Singapore, Narita and Boston, and Narita and Singapore.
The aircraft used for flight JL023/JL024 between Haneda and Beijing has been changed from a 787-8 aircraft to a 767.
Operations of JAL’s 787-8 aircraft from January 18 onwards will be decided after further assessment of the situation, the spokesperson added.
Flight changes and cancellations on January 16 have affected a total of 1,450 passengers.
