Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts is poised to launch a property in Qufu, the birthplace of the great Chinese philosopher, Confuscius, within the first quarter of this year.
The new 325-room property, comprised of two wings – the East and West wings, will be located within walking distance of the Temple of Confucius and the Kong Family Mansion, both of which have been listed as UNESCO World Heritage sites since 1994.
In addition to these tourist attractions, Qufu is an important business destination too as it is within close proximity of several factories that are spread across the Shandong province, such as the Shengli Oilfield, which is a 40 minutes' drive from the hotel, stated the property spokesperson. Furthermore, the hotel is close to the Qufu high-speed train station, which connects the city to Shanghai and Beijing.
Rooms at the property measure at least 42 sqm and are equipped with complimentary wifi as well as other standard amenities such as tea and coffee making facilities. The hotel itself consists of a gym, an indoor swimming pool, an outdoor tennis court, spa, business centre and five food and beverage outlets, including the Shangri-La’s signature Shang Palace restaurant.
