Iberia to roll out cabin crew iPad service

13 Jul 2012 by BusinessTraveller

Spanish carrier Iberia is to follow its merger partner BA in equipping senior cabin crew with iPads stored with passenger data, including meal requests and loyalty programme membership status.

BA began equipping its senior cabin crew with iPads last year, and has recently rolled out a “Know Me” initiative, including the ability for staff to search Google images in order to recognise passengers on arrival (see online news July 2).

Iberia has now announced it will also equip more than 600 pursers with the tablets, which will contain data including the entire passenger manifest, seat assignment for each traveller, information on an individual’s status level within the Iberia Plus loyalty scheme, and any special needs or meal requests.

The iPads will also show real-time information about the status of flight embarkation, and in the future will incorporate additional data including descriptions and images of in-flight meals, and information on destination hotels, restaurants, etc.
