BA says it will launch an online tool on July 3 to "allow Diamond Club and Executive Club members to transfer destinations miles and Avios points between both programmes".
Following the completion of IAG's purchase of Bmi today (April 20), Bmi has contacted its Diamond Club members to inform them what they are being offered within BA's Executive Club scheme, including tier status match, and 1:1 miles conversion - for more details click here.
Members will be able to transfer Bmi destination miles into Executive Club accounts, or vice versa, using a "tool" which BA says will go live on July 3. Note though, that while BA is offering a status match for Diamond Club members, there will not be an option to transfer status miles along with destination miles.
From today both Diamond Club and Executive Club members can also earn destination miles when travelling on either Bmi or British Airways flights. BA says it is also "working to offer Executive Club members the ability to use their Avios on bmi flights and for Diamond Club members to use their destinations miles on BA flights as soon as possible".
Feedback from readers to today's news has been generally favourable, in particular BA's decision to status match Diamond Club silver and gold card holders within the Executive Club scheme.
Note that while IAG has taken on Bmi subsidiaries Bmibaby and Bmi Regional as part of the deal (see online news April 20), neither of these carriers are part of IAG's longterm plans, and Executive Club members are not able to earn Avios and tier points on Bmibaby or Bmi Regional flights.
