Taiwan-based TransAsia Airways is set to deploy an Audio Visual On Demand (AVOD) Inflight Entertainment System (IFE) on all of its forthcoming aircraft.
The carrier first rolled out the new IFE system in July last year on the newly launched Taipei-Singapore flight (see story here). Now, the service will be expanded to all of the carrier’s new aircraft, including the two Airbus A330-300s, scheduled for delivery in November this year.
Following the A330, the carrier will receive 18 A321s and A321neos, also equipped with the new IFE system. Altogether, the carrier is set to receive a total of 20 new aircraft to facilitate network expansion.
On existing fleet, instead of retrofitting aircraft with new IFE systems, the carrier will progressively deploy handheld individual tablets for each passenger that will run the same AVOD system as the new aircraft.
