Stansted Express customers can now have tickets sent directly to their mobile phone, enabling them to show the barcode to onboard ticket inspectors, similar to established mobile airline boarding passes.
Passengers book online and receive a text message with a web link, from where they can retrieve their ticket in barcode form. Those customers with “les-sophisticated mobile phones” can simply show the text message to inspectors for them to verify the ticket.
The new service adds to the operator’s print-at-home e-ticket option launched last year – see online news July 5, 2011.
