For all the travellers who miss their pets when on the road, the Fairmont Hotels offers the perfect solution: resident pet dogs that can be taken for walks and interact with guests to make "every guest smile."
Select properties across Canada and North America have become homes to dogs but unfortunately the scheme has yet to make it to Asia.
At the Fairmont Pittsburgh, guests will find the newest addition to the Fairmont dog family, Edie, a white Boxer/Labrador Retriever and at the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise, guests can meet the Golden Labrador, Marcus. Zeus, Smudge, Jordy, Gracie, Catie, Mavis and Beau are some of the other dogs that form the Fairmont canine family at properties in Quebec, St Andrews, California, Boston and Vancouver.
To take the dog for a walk, guests simply have to register at the concierge and book an available time slot.
Additionally, each dog has a dedicated email address – or “ani-mails” – and Facebook pages for guests to “stay in touch with their furry friends”.
Fairmont has been adding dogs to their Canine Ambassador family since 2002, when the programme kicked off at the Fairmont Waterfront in Vancouver.
