Japan Airlines (JAL) and China Eastern Airlines will expand their codeshare partnership from October 8 onwards.
The airlines will now place their codes – JL or MU – on all flights operated by either carrier between China and Japan. The extended partnership will add a flight one flight to JAL's network between Osaka and Yantai, a city on China’s Eastern coast, while flights to Shizuoka, Okayama and Nagasaki will be included within China Eastern’s network.
Earlier this year, the two carriers had expanded their mileage partnership agreement, enabling members of both frequent flyer programmes to earn miles on all flights operated by the two carriers in China and Japan, instead of just on codeshare flights (see story here), including domestic routes.
Reservations and sales for the new codeshare flights begin today.
