ANA issues warning about possible strike

27 Jun 2011

All Nippon Airways (ANA) has warned of a possible 24-hour Group Pilot Union strike tomorrow, June 28, 2011 that may affect more than 166 flights.

The good news is that it will mainly be domestic flights that will either cancelled or delayed. A statement on the ANA website said that international flights will not be disrupted. Passengers travelling with ANA today are advised to check their flight status.

“We have put forward a fair set of proposals in our year-end talks with the pilot unions. ANA Group will continue urgent negotiations with the union to avert a strike,” said an ANA spokesperson. The threatened strike is due to the pilots’ dissatisfaction with training that currently focuses on smaller jets and propeller planes. The Group Pilot Union is now demanding terms that cover training with larger aircraft.
