Heathrow airport installs electric vehicle charge points

3 Jun 2011 by BusinessTraveller

Travellers with electric cars can now charge their vehicles at points within Heathrow Terminals 1, 3, 4 and 5, as part of a collaboration with Transport for London.

The service is located in the short-stay car parks at each terminal, with two charging points serving four parking spaces in each car park.

BAA says it is “one of the first companies to complete the installation of electric vehicle charge points as part of its collaboration with Transport for London through the 'Source London' programme”.

The Source London programme has so far added 150 new charging points to the London network, with 1,300 set to be available by 2013. Users pay a £100 annual membership fee for each vehicle, with no further charge for electricity used.
