Doubletree to open Lincoln property

23 Mar 2011 by BusinessTraveller

Hilton is to open its first purpose built Doubletree hotel in the UK, a 115-room property in Lincoln city centre.

Doubletree by Hilton Lincoln is due to open “towards the end of 2011”, and will be located on a site previously occupied by one of the city’s electricity substations in Brayford Wharf North.

The new-build property will offer rooms with views of Brayford Pool or Lincoln Cathedral,  and features include 17 suites with balconies, 500sqm of meeting space, a fitness centre and onsite car park.

Design elements include the original substation door and plaque commemorating its opening in 1910, a “panoramic glass lift” taking visitors to the hotel’s rooftop bar and restaurant, and “curved shapes and corridors with flowing lines” to mirror the movement of Brayford Pool.

Hilton introduced its Doubletree brand to the UK in Cambridge in 2008 (see online news February 1, 2008), and recently opened its second Doubletree property in London, rebranding the Park Inn, London Russell Square (see online news March 3). The brand also opened its first property in Istanbul in February (see online news February 22).
