Etihad Airways will increase frequencies on the Abu Dhabi-Jeddah route from February 1, 2011. The daily service will go to 12 times a week service using a two-class Airbus A320.
Flights are available twice a day on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays. The first flight departs from the UAE capital at 0150 and arrives in Jeddah at 0350.
On Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, the second flight leaves at 1345 and arrives in Jeddah at 1550. On Wednesdays and Sundays, the second flight departs at 1330 and arrives in Jeddah at 1535. The carrier flies only once on Mondays and Fridays, departing Abu Dhabi at 1330 and arriving in Jeddah at 1535.
The return leg departs Jeddah at 1650 and arrives in Abu Dhabi at 2025 every day. On Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, additional flights depart Jeddah at 0515 and arrive in Abu Dhabi at 0845. On Wednesdays and Sundays, the additional flight departs at 0535 and arrives in Abu Dhabi at 0905.
The service plans to tap into the lucrative business and religious travel market surging in both countries. James Hogan, Etihad Airways’ chief executive officer, said: “Our new flights will further cater for the Saudi Arabian population living in Abu Dhabi and across the UAE, as well as the growing numbers of business and religious travellers looking to fly to the city.”
