Star Alliance-carrier Air China will offer a three-times weekly service between Dusseldorf and Beijing starting on March 27, increasing to four-times weekly in June.
There are currently no direct services between Dusseldorf and Beijing – Air Berlin has previously flown between the two cities, but dropped the route back in late 2008 (see online news September 30, 2008).
Air China will commence flights to Dusseldorf on March 27, 2011, with a three-times weekly service using Airbus A340-200 aircraft configured with 34 business class seats.
The flights will depart Dusseldorf on Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays at 2045, landing in Beijing at 1245 the following day, with the return leg leaving China at 1355 and landing back in Dusseldorf at 1845. A fourth Thursday service will be added from June 23.
The move will allow fellow Star Alliance member Lufthansa to feed into Air China’s service from Dusseldorf.
