Von Essen acquires Llangoed Hall Hotel

22 Nov 2010 by BusinessTraveller

Luxury hotel group Von Essen has added Llangoed Hall Hotel to its portfolio, a 23-room property near the Welsh town of Brecon.

Set in landscaped gardens, the mansion dates back to 1632, and features “the style and fabrics” of the late Welsh designer Laura Ashley, whose husband Sir Bernard Ashley created the hotel.

Facilities include Ashley’s restaurant, the Whistler bar, and Sir Bernard’s private art collection, including over 20 original drawings by 19th century artist James Abbott McNeill Whistler.

Llangoed Hall Hotel is the second Welsh property within the Von Essen collection, joining the Michelin-starred Ynyshir Hall close to the Dyfi Estuary.

Von Essen recently opened its first London hotel – a new-build property attached to the London Heliport on the River Thames. For a review of Hotel Verta, see the forthcoming December / January issue of Business Traveller.
