Intercontinental Hotels Group is to expand its boutique Hotel Indigo brand into Continental Europe, with its first Spanish property due to open in Madrid in 2012.
Details about the hotel’s facilities are limited at present, but the 89-room Hotel Indigo Madrid will be located in the city centre, joining eleven other IHG-branded hotels in the Spanish capital.
IHG’s boutique brand launched in the US in 2004, before making it European debut in London’s Paddington last year (see online news January 20, 2009).
A second London property opened in Tower Hill earlier this month (see online news July 7), and further properties are currently under development in London, Liverpool and Glasgow (see online news October 9, 2009).
