Lufthansa makes changes to Mile and More conditions

14 May 2010 by BusinessTraveller

Lufthansa’s Miles and More loyalty scheme has announced a new six month deadline for members wishing to claim for retro-active mileage credits, and has also placed a 24-month expiry period on its upgrade vouchers.

The Miles and More scheme currently has a 12-month deadline for crediting miles retro-actively to member accounts, but this will be reduced to six months from June 1. The new deadline will apply to all services, such as flights, that qualify for earning miles.

In addition Lufthansa’s upgrade vouchers - given to members attaining Senator and Hon Circle status within the Miles and More scheme, and known as eVouchers – now have a 24-month expiry date attached to them, instead of the current unlimited validity.

A transitional arrangement has been put in place, meaning that eVouchers credited by June 30 will remain valid for a further 36 months (until June 1, 2013), and those credited between June 1, 2010 and March 30, 2011 will also expire on June 1, 2013, making them valid for up to 36 months. All vouchers credited after April 1, 2011 will then be valid for 24 months.
