Shangri-La Hotel Mumbai, set to open in 2011, will be operating from Mumbai’s Lower Parel. The area was formerly the site of cotton mill estates, which have been taken over by big businesses and real estate developers.
Shangri-La is managing the 410-room property on behalf of Pallazzio Hotel and Leisure group. It forms part of the High Steet Phoenix retail and office mixed-use project.
As with most Shangri-Las, it will feature a variety of dining options, a health club, spa, swimming pool as well as ballroom and conference facilities. The chain already maintains a presence on the sub-continent, having opened Shangri-La’s Eros Hotel New Delhi in 2005.
In 2011, the chain expects to emerge not only in Mumbai, but also in Bangalore with two hotels, the Shangri-La Bangalore and Palm Retreat Shangri-La Bangalore.
