Members of the oneworld airlines are continuing to consolidate operations and online services at various airports.
British Airways (BA) is preparing to move this November from Tokyo Narita’s Terminal 1 to Terminal 2 to join Japan Airlines (JAL) and other partners.
At London Heathrow, oneworld’s European hub, JAL has started offering BA lounges to its premium customers, with plans being worked out to enable the Japanese carrier to use at more facilities of its airline partners at airports throughout the world.
Now on its 11th year, the airline grouping has witnessed several breakthroughs in recent months such as JAL's reaffirming its membership; Indian carrier Kingfisher signing an MOU as a first step to joining oneworld; and the US government's tentative approval of the application of several oneworld members for anti-trust immunity across the Atlantic among others.
oneworld expects to welcome Russia's S7 Airlines into the fold later this year.
