The German carrier is to commence a thrice-weekly service from Munich to Riyadh at the end of this month, using Boeing 737-800 aircraft operated by Swiss business jet operator PrivatAir.
Lufthansa already uses PrivatAir aircraft to ply several routes including Kuwait, Dammam, Bahrain and Pune from Frankfurt, and Tashkent and Tehran from Munich.
The Swiss airline started out as an all-business class operator, but has recently started to offer two-class B737 aircraft, including the model which will operate on the Munich-Riyadh route, with 84 seats in economy and 24 seats in business class (converting into a lie-flat seat with “an almost horizontal surface two metres in length”).
Flight LH608 will depart Munich on Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 1600, arriving into Riyadh at 2215, with the return leg LH609 leaving the Saudi Arabian city at 0045 and landing back in Munich at 0520.
Lufthansa already offers a daily service from Frankfurt to Riyadh, using three-class Airbus A340-300 aircraft.
