Taj Hotels, Resorts and Palaces has bought the Sea Rock Hotel in Bandra, Mumbai opposite its Taj Lands End property.
The US$143 million deal will see the 480-room Sea Rock demolished and replaced by a new complex, comprising a hotel, a convention centre, and retail and commercial outlets.
Taj will integrate the complex with the Taj Lands End, and the process is expected to take two to three years.
The Sea Rock Hotel had not been in operation due to the Mumbai bomb blasts that occurred in 1993, which caused substantial damages to the hotel.
