Malaysia Airlines (MAS) has introduced the MH Value Fares for Economy Class: MHlow, MHbasic, MHsmart and MHflex. Athough these new offers are currently only available on domestic flights, the carrier is planning to extend them to its international services in February next year.
MHlow offers up to a 70 percent ticket discount, requiring 30 days advanced payment.
MHbasic offers up to a 50 percent ticket discount, requiring 14 days advanced payment.
MHsmart offers up to a 20 percent ticket discount, with baggage allowance up to 25kg and 75 percent accrual of frequent flyer miles. Payment must be made within 48 hours of booking.
MHflex provides 125 percent accrual of frequent flyer miles with payment made within 24 hours.
Idris Jala, MAS CEO, observed that today’s passengers “are all multiple type travellers depending on the occasion, and our new fare options have been customised to cater to the different travel needs.”
MAS expects the new fares to boost ticket sales, as well as sustain or improve the load factor of its aircraft.
“There’ll be winners and losers in the current economic environment, but I’m convinced that this (programme) will put us in good stead,” Idris added.
