Routes

Zoom Airlines has commenced a twice-weekly service (Mondays and Fridays) between Gatwick and San Diego, the only direct flights between London and the US city.

Lufthansa will launch a weekly route between Newquay Cornwall airport and Dusseldorf International this weekend. The flights will be operated by regional franchise partner Eurowings.

BA has launched its OpenSkies subsidiary this week, with daily flights between Paris Orly and New York JFK using a Boeing 757 configured for 82 passengers.

Jet Airways has added a daily Mumbai-San Francisco (via Shanghai) service to its schedule. The flights will be served by the carrier’s newest 777-300ER aircraft.

Qatar Airways has commenced non-stop flights from Doha to the southern Indian city of Kozhikode. The daily service will be operated using Airbus A320 aircraft.

Hotels

Starwood Hotels has announced its first St Regis-branded hotel in Kuala Lumpur. The property is due to open in 2014 and will feature 200 guest rooms and a further 200 residences.

Holiday Inn Express has opened two new UK hotels - the 120-room Holiday Inn Express Banbury and the 102-room Holiday Inn Burnley.

Hilton will open a property in Gdansk in 2010. The Hilton Gdansk will feature 700sqm of spa facilities and 1,000sqm of conference space.

Raffles Hotels & Resorts has announced a new property in the Russian capital of Moscow. Due to open in 2011, Raffles Moscow will feature 130 guestrooms.

Marriott has opened its latest Beijing hotel. The Courtyard by Marriott Beijing Northwest features 258 rooms and is located between the Lido Commercial District and Wangjing High Tech Park.
