Etihad Airways is to commence a twice-weekly service to the Belarusian capital of Minsk this August. The Abu Dhabi-based carrier will become the first airline from the Gulf region to fly to Belarus when it begins flights on August 5.
It will ply the route with an A319 configured for 104 passengers (20 in business and 84 in economy), with flights leaving Abu Dhabi on Tuesday and Thursday at 0945, arriving into Minsk at 1425. The return flight will depart Belarus at 1515, arriving back into Abu Dhabi at 2140. A third weekly flight (Saturday) will be added to the route from October.
Belarus borders Russia to the north and east, Ukraine to the south, Poland to the west, and Lithuania and Latvia to the north. Currently the only direct route between the UK and Minsk is a three-times weekly service with national airline Balavia from London Gatwick.
