Emirates will serve Newcastle

Emirates will launch a daily service from Newcastle to Dubai on September 1.The carrier will use a two-class Airbus A330-200 on the route configured for 27 business and 251 economy class seats.

Flight EK036 will depart Newcastle at 1340 to reach Dubai at 0005 the next day. The inbound service, EK035 will depart Dubai at 0720 arriving in Newcastle at 1210.

This will be the airport's only scheduled long-haul service and will be welcomed by passengers wishing to fly east since the service will connect at Dubai for onward flights to 80 destinations in the Middle East, Africa, Asia and Australia.

Says Vic Sheppard, Emirates' VP for the UK & Ireland, "Our new service will provide the Northeast with direct and convenient access to Dubai and beyond. No longer will travellers face the unnecessary delay of connecting on to flights via London or points in mainland Europe."

Newcastle's catchment area extends to the Scottish borders in the north and as far south as York. For more information go to emirates.com.
