Next generation Nightjet will finally launch in December

    The next generation of night train rolling stock will enter service at the start of the winter timetable.

    It’s been a long time coming. OEBB originally ordered a fleet of these new trains from Siemens in 2018.

    Originally it was intended that they would operate from Vienna into Italy.

    But it’s now planned to operate the inaugural train from Vienna to Hamburg on December 10.

    Our piece from December 2021. It will have taken two years for them to be certified.
