Thanks CX that’s what I was getting at. Rich, its not communism, its called increased efficiency, passengers and income for Britain. If UA operated two 777’s to EWR daily then they could give the other slots to say TAM for routes to South America or Asiana for Soeul or Daegu.

Or UA could choose to make a commercial decision to operate two 777s and sell the other slots.

Yep, or that. I was just thinking of other *A members that the UK could benefit from.

Oh brilliant, the one airport in the country that wouldn’t actually use it!

Exactly how many passengers have they lost at Stansted in the last 3-4 years?!

-The catchment is not very affluent
-The transport links are average, not as good as Gatwick
    -Ryanair virtually runs the place
-Passenger numbers ebb and flow at Mr o’Lary’s every whim

I would call commuterland and Cambridgeshire reasonably affluent.

Stansted catchment not very affluent? Many years ago Ryanair conducted a study which found that the average income of a Stansted passenger was around £43,000. That was then and should be higher now, but even if it’s not, the average UK wage is around £26,000.

    The FT reports….

New software for LHR is being installed which enables real time data to be shared between BAA, airlines, baggage handling and air trafic control. The objective is to improve punctuality, cost saving and capacity especially during the Olympics

BAA”s head of airside activities at Heathrow, Tim Hardy, .. ” the technology would mean that aircraft should spend less time on taxiways waiting for take-off, cutting airlines” aggregate fuel bills by £10m a year and reducing annual carbon emissions at Heathrow by 30,000 tonnes.

So Tolotaxi, why not insist That BA and othe carriers use 747 and 773 or 380 on all popular european routes? If CDG, BRU, AMS, FRA, MXP, FCO, MAD, BCN, CPH, MUC, ZRH, GVA, VIE were reduced to 1 or 2 747’s a day then there would be many free slots available. Presumably one would also only allow slots where over 90% of seats are sold. Those not achieving this Over say a monthly window ocould be cancelled and allocated to other carriers on a standby basis?

I never said that. However, you could say that nothing smaller than an A320 is allowed into Heathrow and encourage BA to operate larger aircraft to FRA, GVA, CDG etc. such as 757’s (even though they got rid of them) or more 767’s.
