I’m hoping this is the boring part of an exciting chapter…

    BA Summer 2013 long-haul changes

    http://airlineroute.net/2012/11/15/ba-s13update1/

    Here are the interesting bits:
London Heathrow – Chennai Summer operation increases from 5 weekly in S12 to 6 weekly (Day x3 from LHR, Day x4 from MAA; 3-class 777-200ER operating)
London Heathrow – Hyderabad Summer operation increases from 5 weekly in S12 to 6 weekly (Day x7 from LHR, Day x1 from HYD; 767 operating)
London Heathrow – Johannesburg eff 29APR13 Service increases from 14 to 17 weekly once again for Northern Summer season, 777-200ER operating
London Heathrow – Kuwait City Boeing 747-400 service continues operating on/after 31MAR13, replacing 777-200ER in S12
London Heathrow – Phoenix 7th weekly service introduced during selected period in Winter 2012/13, is maintained on/after 31MAR13
London Heathrow – Vancouver eff 01JUN13 Service increases from daily to 12 weekly once again for Summer season (Previously to start from 01MAY13)

By the way, the ones listed here are only the changes that are so far scheduled for the summer season, and do not include the temporary cancellations (cause they are boring!).

Nothing fascinating here, but the changes show BA has started releasing S13, meaning new route announcements for S13 should be coming very soon!

    Hello LeTigre

Nothing boring about it… good to see more flights to Chennai, Hyderabad and Jo’burg.

Yeah, sorry, I didn’t explain that very well.

More flights to those markets are definitely welcome. However, the only reason I was disappointed is that in the summer, BA announced that there would be more news on exciting routes in the autumn. So, I still have high hopes of KL, Chengdu or Osaka, etc.

It looks like BA will be looking East. I hope it is considering Osaka and Manila in addition to CAN and other Chinese destinations.

As for North America, I am only expecting extra flights. And Fort Lauderdale especially for VK!

    Update at 2045GMT 22NOV12

British Airways in Summer 2013, effective 31MAR13, plans to increase capacity on London Heathrow – Hong Kong and London Heathrow – Los Angeles service.

    Details:

London Heathrow – Hong Kong BA027/028 operates with 747-400, replacing 777-300ER
    BA025 LHR1830 – 1300+1HKG 744 D
    BA027 LHR2200 – 1650+1HKG 744 D

London Heathrow – Los Angeles BA278/279 operates with 747-400, replacing 777-300ER

    BA279 LHR0940 – 1300LAX 744 D
    BA283 LHR1200 – 1505LAX 744 D
    BA269 LHR1605 – 1905LAX 744 D
    ——————————————Excerpt—————–

The use of the word capacity increase is misleading because actually the aircraft operating this route are likely to be high-J 747s meaning little difference. I also believe these changes are meant to accommodate the aircraft change on the LHR-SIN-SYD route, freeing up the required 77Ws.

    Update at 1515GMT 22DEC12

As per 22DEC12 GDS timetable and inventory display, Air China’s planned Summer 2013 International operation changes as follows. Additional changes remain possible.

Beijing – London Heathrow eff 15MAY13 Boeing 777-300ER replaces A330-200 on daily basis

    —————————Excerpt—————————-

Air China is finally upgrading this route, after adding flights to Gatwick this year in order to add much needed capacity on a route which (reportedly) has load factors in excess of 90%. The introduction of 777-300ER aircraft on a daily basis will be adding more than 30% more seats including new products, such as fully flat business seats.

    Good news indeed!
