AMcWhirterParticipantI thought readers ought to be aware of what Dublin airport is planning.
Belfast International already has a similar fee but this would be the first time it would be instigated by Dublin.

SwissdiverParticipantThis is an acceptable policy only when there is a decent train service in place. This is not the case at DUB! Only buses and coaches are available.

i’d add, having used the coaches on a few occasions, reliability and availability are by no means guaranteed. especially with services originating in Dublin
Plus, there’s nothing like another ancillary fee to encourage people back during the pandemic.Do they have a shuttle to the nearest LUAS line ?

FrDougalParticipantSadly the nearest Luas Line station is in Broombridge which is roughly the same distance from the airport as the city center and in the wrong direction.
There are wonderful plans for the Metro North project bringing an underground/overground metro service from St Stephens Green to Swords via the airport. However these plans have been in place since the mid’00s, they have been put on hold through various financial crises by successive governments and now just as all looked rosey and construction was about to commence, Covid happened.
So whether we see it this side of 2050 is anyone’s guess but I can assure you the pickup/drop off will be implemented before you can even say “Metro North Public Consultation”!

PollyParticipantIt’s a nightmare, Dublin airport transport..ongoing, and what a time to bring in a charge, what are they thinking? The few euros it will bring in is not worth the policy. People will be dropped off at the car hire places, long term car parks etc etc..or bottom of the ramp..typical idiots, and l say that as a Dub.
