  • On the basis of my very recent personal experience, Google related sites were not slow, they were blocked and gmail was inaccessible so it was necessary to set up a account to get around this. Beyond that, the VPN work-around was tried by a colleague and that too did not succeed. The Chinese are pretty determined to keep certain types of traffic and some providers out of the Chinese internet. Beware!
