Mandarin Oriental will open its much anticipated second London hotel on 3 June.
The 50-room Mandarin Oriental Mayfair was first announced in December 2017, and is located within a new-build property on Hanover Square, where the new Elisabeth Line entrance to Bond Street station is also located.
The hotel features the first UK restaurant by Korean-born chef Akira Back, as well as Back’s signature ABar Lounge and ABar rooftop bar concepts.
Below ground there is a spa with 25-metre swimming pool, fitness centre, sauna, vitality pools, experience showers and steam rooms.
The property will also feature 77 Residences at Mandarin Oriental Mayfair, with access to the hotel facilities and a residents lounge.
Ahead of the opening the group has also unveiled the hotel’s official fan created in collaboration with the House of Vivienne Westwood, which has a Mayfair boutique across from the new property.
The fan was handcrafted by traditional artisans including Ian Block from The Worshipful Company of Fan Makers, and features sticks made from a London Plane tree which fell in a storm in St James’ Park, and silver charms made by London jeweller Katy Feldstein.
The original version of the fan will go on display at the hotel, and a second version will be auctioned as part of The Vivienne Foundation’s ‘Stop War’ campaign.
Mandarin Oriental Mayfair will join the existing Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park, which unveiled extensive refurbishment works in 2019.
A third London property is also set to open in 2028 within the 2.2 hectare mixed-use Bankside Yards development, a project which is designed to reconnect the space between the Tate Modern and Blackfriars Station.
