Marriott International and Morogoro Mishama Company have just signed an agreement to open a brand-new property by Le Méridien Hotels & Resorts to Zanzibar in 2025. Named Le Méridien Zanzibar Resort, the new property is intended to cater to the growing demand for premium hospitality and luxury hotel options in Tanzania.

Located in Bwejuu, a village on Unguja island on Zanzibar’s East Coast – an area known for its beautiful powdery white-sand beaches and tranquil atmosphere – the resort will feature 75 contemporary guestrooms and villas, along with uninterrupted views of the Indian Ocean and its serene beach vistas. Guests will also be able to enjoy a speciality restaurant, open-air bar, and a variety of recreational facilities including a stunning pool, fitness centre, relaxing spa, kids club, and even a lagoon, all underlined by the motto “Savour the Good Life”. The property will also pay homage to Le Méridien’s rich European heritage.

“We are thrilled to announce our second collaboration with Marriott International in the region by bringing Le Méridien Zanzibar Resort to fruition,” said Rishen Patel, managing director of Morogoro Mishama Company, continuing: “This milestone underscores our continued commitment to enhancing Tanzania’s hospitality landscape and reinforcing Zanzibar’s appeal as a premier leisure destination to visitors across the world.”

Morogoro Mishama Company – a part of Delaware Investment Limited that specialises in the development of luxury hotels across the African continent – and Marriott International will be collaborating with ALEPH Hospitality as the franchised property’s third-party operator.

“We are very excited to be entrusted with the operations of Le Méridien Zanzibar Resort,” said Bani Haddad, founder and managing director of Aleph Hospitality. “This stunning, modern resort will be an incredible addition to the hospitality offering in Zanzibar, which has seen a surge in growth with international tourism arrivals surpassing a record one million mark just last month.”
