World of Hyatt members now have a new option for earning and redeeming points in Las Vegas.

The 2,500-room Rio Hotel & Casino has joined the group’s loyalty programme, ahead of the property moving into Hyatt’s Independent Collection under the Destination by Hyatt brand later this year.

Back in 2021 it was announced that the hotel – which was previously operated by Caesars Entertainment – was to be renovated and rebranded under “multiple Hyatt full-service offerings”. At the time it had been planned for part of the property to become a Hyatt Regency hotel.

The hotel is currently undergoing a $340 million transformation project, phase one of which is expected to be completed by the autumn.

Work includes upgrades and enhancements to the property’s 1,501-room Ipanema tower, the hotel’s arrival area, building exterior, lobby, gaming floor, F&B outlets, meeting spaces and outdoor pool area.

Phase two will then include renovation and redesign of the 1,021 rooms within the Masquerade Tower.

The property is located at 3700 West Flamingo Rd, within walking distance of the strip. As part of the group’s new hotel offer, World of Hyatt members can earn 500 bonus points for every qualifying night, for stays between 1 April and 30 June, 2024.

Rio Hotel & Casino will join Hyatt Place Las Vegas, and Hyatt Place Las Vegas at Silverton Village, as the group’s third property in the Las Vegas area.

Commenting on the news David Tarr, senior vice president of development, Americas, Hyatt, said:

“We’re proud to collaborate with Rio Hotel & Casino on this transformational project to revitalize the iconic hotel as a Destination by Hyatt hotel.

“Destination by Hyatt hotels are individual at heart and embody the true spirit of the destination, and Rio Hotel & Casino will be no exception. This renovation will serve as a gateway for guests to experience a place of purposefully crafted entertainment and immersive experiences, infused with authentic design, and warm and welcoming service.

“We look forward to providing World of Hyatt members and guests an authentic and unforgettable experience in Las Vegas.”
