Oneworld has opened its second branded lounge of 2024, with the unveiling of a 473 sqm facility at Amsterdam Schiphol airport.

The lounge is situated in the non-Schengen area of the airport “no more than ten minutes away from the alliance member airlines’ departure gates”, and has been created in collaboration with ASPIRE.

Design elements include lighting pieces inspired by the spherical lights on many of Amsterdam’s arched canal bridges, and the alliance said that “The city’s birds were also a source of playful inspiration for designers with individual bird silhouettes perching over the lounge bar, with one even seen to be blowing bubble gum”.

The lounge is open daily between 0530 and 2200, for eligible oneworld Emerald and Sapphire customers departing from Amsterdam Schiphol airport outside of the Schengen area on oneworld flights, as well as first and business class customers travelling with oneworld member airlines.

Amenities include buffet dining, a full-service bar and shower facilities, with mood lighting which changes depending on the time of the day.

The lounge is located between D and E Gates on the third floor, and is also signposted as Lounge 40. It is in fact situated on the site of the previous British Airways lounge which closed following the Covid-19 pandemic.

Eight oneworld member airlines currently operate nonstop flights to Schiphol – American Airlines, British Airways, Cathay Pacific, Finnair, Iberia, Qatar Airways, Royal Air Maroc and Royal Jordanian.

The opening follows the unveiling of the oneworld lounge at Seoul’s Incheon International airport last month.

Commenting on the news Neil Chernoff, British Airways’ director of networks and alliances, said:

“As a founding member of oneworld 25 years ago, British Airways is proud to support the opening of the alliance’s first fully-branded European lounge. Amsterdam is hugely popular with our customers as we operate up to 116 flights per week from London, together with our subsidiary airlines.

“Being part of the oneworld alliance gives our customers access to around 900 destinations around the globe, and we look forward to continuing to be a part of its continued success.”
