Plaza Premium Group has opened its second African lounge, located within Terminal 1D at Nairobi’s Jomo Kenyatta International airport.
The 336 sqm facility is situated on the terminal’s level 2 next to gate 4, and is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
The lounge can seat up to 150 guests, with features including dedicated workspaces, showers, wifi, charging stations and a dining menu featuring “favourite Kenyan flavours and international cuisines”, while interiors “reflect contemporary African aesthetics blending touches of tribal patterns”.
The Nairobi facility joins Plaza Premium’s existing lounge at Addis Ababa Bole International airport as the group’s second true lounge in Africa – Plaza Premium also lists lounges in Durban, Johannesburg, Harare and Zanzibar on its website, but these are all managed by third parties.
Last year the group opened a number of new lounges at airports including Adelaide, Kuala Lumpur, Rome Fiumicino, Amman and Denver – the last of these in partnership with Capital One.
Commenting on the news Okan Kufeci, Plaza Premium Group’s senior vice president EMEA, said:
“PPG’s presence in the MEA region is growing from strength to strength. Recently we celebrated the successful openings of our Plaza Premium Lounge Amman, Jordan, as well as two Root98 [airport dining] outlets in Jeddah.
“Today’s announcement marks the fourth touchpoint for us in this vibrant region in the past six months, and we are honoured to be a partner with Nairobi Jomo Kenyatta International Airport to offer a more comfortable way to await your flight in one of the fast-growing global tourism markets.”
