Hyatt has opened the first Moroccan property under its Park Hyatt brand.

The 130-room Park Hyatt Marrakech is situated at the foot of the Atlas Mountains, next to the Al Maaden Golf resort, around nine miles from the city’s Medina district.

The property comprises 16 pavilions built around a central patio, and was designed by Marrakech-based architect Imaad Rahmouni, drawing inspiration from Arab-Berber traditions.

Facilities include “arabesque brasserie” TFAYA, all day dining venue Le Pavilion, seven events spaces, a 2,200 sqm spa, and indoor and outdoor swimming pools.

The hotel also features more than 700 paintings and decorative objects by artists from Morocco, Senegal, Benin, Spain, France, Italy and Japan, including a lobby installation of 600 hand-crafted ceramic pieces by visual artist Mounat Charrat.

Park Hyatt Marrakech joins Park Hyatt Zanzibar as just the second property under the brand in Africa, with Park Hyatt Johannesburg scheduled to open in 2025.

Commenting on the news Javier Águila, group president EAME, Hyatt, said:

“As a key market in our regional growth strategy, we are delighted to announce the opening of Morocco’s first Park Hyatt hotel in Marrakech. The property has been a highly anticipated addition to our portfolio as Morocco receives a resurgence of interest as a top tier cultural destination among travel connoisseurs.

“Offering a wealth of new experiences across the arts, culture, and gastronomy, alongside the area’s historic and ancient treasures, Park Hyatt Marrakech provides guests an enviable opportunity to discover the beauty of the Red City through this modern sanctuary of timeless luxury.

“Park Hyatt Marrakech marks the eleventh Park Hyatt property in the Europe, Middle East, and Africa region, following the brand’s successful expansion across key leisure destinations such as Doha, Vienna, Istanbul, Dubai, Zurich, Milan, and Paris.”
