Brussels Airlines has performed its first commercial flight with its Airbus A320neo aircraft.

The carrier’s flight SN2905 from Brussels to Vienna took place on 12 December at 1545 local time, with all passengers on board receiving a birth card and suikerbonen/dragées (traditional chocolates) to commemorate the day.

The aircraft, designated OO-SBA, was delivered to the airline on 1 November and underwent the “last trims and finishes” by the maintenance and engineering team before the maiden flight.

Four additional A320neo aircraft are set to join the airline’s fleet in the coming year as part of its sustainable fleet renewal programme. The A320neo produces up to 20 per cent less CO2 emissions and up to 50 per cent less noise, and also features a flexible lighting system and 40 per cent larger overhead bins for luggage.
