Cairo-based Star Alliance member EGYPTAIR will launch a new Cairo-Shanghai route commencing 16 November.

The Egyptian flag carrier will deploy one of its Boeing 777-300ER aircraft on the thrice-weekly Shanghai service.

This will be the airline’s fourth destination in China, complementing existing services to Beijing, Guangzhou and Hangzhou.

EGYPTAIR currently flies to Beijing three times per week, with Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft. Service to Guangzhou, however, is daily and also sees the larger 777-300ER operating; while flights to Hangzhou now run thrice-weekly, with the 787-9.

The outbound service will depart Cairo for Shanghai at 0200 every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, arriving at Pudong airport at 1855 local time.

The return flights leave Pudong at 0105 on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday, landing back in Cairo at 0735 local time.

EGYPTAIR’s 777-300ER aircraft deployed to Shanghai have 49 lie-flat seats in business class across a 2-3-2 configuration, as well as 297 seats in economy class, configured 3-3-3.

The airline’s newer 787-9s rostered to Beijing and Hangzhou feature updated 1-2-1 business cabins.
