Mandarin Oriental has announced plans for its latest Chinese property, to be located in Tianfu New Area, a business district to the south of Chengdu.

The 267-room Mandarin Oriental Tianfu, Chengdu will feature four restaurants and bars, as well as an indoor swimming pool, fitness centre and spa.

The central business district of Tianfu is situated around 25km to the south of Chengdu’s old city, and the hotel will be located in the “primary development zone”, which also comprises regional offices and headquarters of multinational corporations as well as international convention and exhibition venues.

The district is being designed as a ‘Park City’, with over 3,000 hectares of green space within walking distance of the hotel.

Scheduled to open in 2028, the property will also be situated next to Western China’s tallest skyscraper, which features an observation deck with views of the city and Xiling snow mountains.
