To celebrate the official launch of the Taipei-Prague route, China Airlines (CAL) president Kao Shing-Hwang travelled on the inaugural CI67 service last week.

The inaugural nonstop flight to Prague took 13.5hrs, SkyTeam member CAL said.

China Airlines now offers nonstop service to six European destinations – Amsterdam, Frankfurt, Vienna, London, Rome, and Prague.

Prague airport celebrated the arrival of CI067 with a traditional water salute ceremony.

China Airlines is the only carrier to offer nonstop flights between Taiwan and the Czech Republic.

The new Prague route is expected to boost trade and tourism.

China Airlines also expects robust demand for the Prague service from transit passengers, particularly from Japan, Korea and Vietnam.

This, it noted, would allow more travelers to “pass through Taiwan on their way to and from the Czech Republic and thus enhancing Taiwan’s status as a regional transit hub”.

Furthermore, the airline believes that its Prague flights will cater to travel demand from nearby Dresden and Nuremburg across the German border.

China Airlines deploys its latest-generation Airbus A350-900 aircraft on the Taipei-Prague service, with business, premium economy and economy class seating.

China Airlines currently has codeshare agreements with other SkyTeam airlines including KLM, Air France, Air Europa, ITA Airways, and Czech Airlines.

In Germany, the carrier also has a codesharing agreement with railway operator Deutsche Bahn.
